Singapore is one of the most dazzling city-states in the world, and this October, it’s playing host to the absolute cream of the globe’s motor racing crop. Yes, the F1 is moving on again, and with both McLaren drivers currently riding high at the top of the Drivers’ Championship, the drama behind the wheel is only going to build further as the World Grand Prix heads out east.
If you’re planning to attend the Singapore Grand Prix this October, there are naturally lots of things you’ll need to remember to pack before you go. However, we’re here to remind you that an eSIM should be right at the top of that list before you travel. Keep reading for all the details you need to know about the upcoming race, and why SIMOVO should be your top choice as eSIM experts for your trip.
All About the Singapore Grand Prix 2025
Singapore’s F1 racing weekend peels into view starting October 3rd, with the main race taking place at 8pm local time on October 5th. That means it’s a night race – an amazing spectacle for F1 fans, flanked by an absolutely spectacular city. Across the weekend, the practice and qualifying races will also take place in the evenings, pitting drivers up against night-covered drives around this tricky track.
The Singapore Grand Prix first took place back in 2008, with 62 laps of bends and chicanes across a total distance of 306.143km. That’s 4.94km per lap – sounds like a lot, but remember the blistering speeds that these F1 drivers fly around at!
In fact, last year, Daniel Ricciardo set the all-time lap record for the Singapore GP, a stunning 1’34”486 – he covered nearly five km in almost a minute and a half. Is it any wonder why so many people travel far and wide to see the rubber-burning mayhem up close and personal?
The Singapore GP takes place on the Marina Bay Street circuit. And, yes, it is actually a street track. That gives it an incredible aesthetic, especially under cover of night. However, it is notoriously tricky to traverse even for experienced drivers, with the number of corners on the track having been reduced from 23 to 19!
Given the location, this GP is among the most humid for drivers, making it a physical test of endurance as well as one of resolve and determination. Drivers who do well here really are deserving of the spoils.
And, with the help of a SIMOVO eSIM, you can go along to the race and enjoy all the bright lights and lightning-paced racing action while keeping connected to friends and family.
Who’s on the Grid?
At the time of writing, it’s far too early to say who’s likely to do well at this year’s Singapore GP, but the Drivers’ Championship is getting more and more interesting by the day. It’s been a while since our piece discussing the Dutch GP, and, predictably, the F1 season has only gotten more frantic and dramatic since then.
At the time of writing, the season is being absolutely dominated by Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris for McLaren, performing a fantastic one-two in the overall standings heading into the Azerbaijan GP.
It’s a huge turnaround from seasons where Max Verstappen, who’s claimed several podiums and wins so far, had previously been completely dominative across the board, breaking records and raising eyebrows. However, he seems to have met his match in the McLarens so far this year.
British veteran Lewis Hamilton is still hanging in there firmly in the top six at the time of writing. Hamilton remains one of the sport’s best-ever drivers, and while he’s yet to grab a podium or win a race this season, he’s been consistent enough to cement himself a serious amount of points ahead of Alex Albon for Williams.
So, we’re not yet sure who will place on the podium or even get pole position at Singapore just yet – but these are certainly the drivers to watch.
Go, Go, Go (...but Not Without an eSIM)!
Singapore is an absolutely fabulous holiday destination all on its own, with night cruises, temple tours, and island hopping all opening up to you when you arrive. The night scene is absolutely stunning, and the local cuisine is world-famous. So, there’s plenty of reasons to get exploring even when the racing’s over for another year.
But, trust us when we say you’re going to need an eSIM. Instead of relying on potentially spotty and insecure public WiFi, grab a SIMOVO eSIM for Singapore and you’ll have access to both Starhub and Simba when you arrive. That’s up to 4G speeds, too, and great stability.
Grabbing an eSIM and paying upfront for your data in Singapore works out much more affordable than, say, loading up your usual network SIM and waiting for roaming fees to upset your bank manager.
With SIMOVO in Singapore, you can get access to up to 50GB of data for up to 30 days. If you don’t need that much and you’re just going for the race weekend, grab 1GB of data for up to a week.
If you know you’ll need a bit more data for your trip, our Unlimited Singapore eSIM gives you between 500MB and 2GB per day, resetting every 24 hours, for up to two weeks. You can customise this eSIM to last the F1 weekend or for a little bit longer – it’s up to you!
Regardless, SIMOVO’s Singapore eSIMs make sure you’re always covered to connect with loved ones back home, through apps such as Messenger, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and Zoom. Plus, you can always stream and share your F1 adventures and nighttime journeying through TikTok and Instagram without worrying about extra costs on top.
There’s not much time until the Singapore GP gets started – grab your tickets, book your flights, and download a prepaid eSIM!
